Accessibility Statement

Using this website

We want everyone to be able to use the Release My Equity website with confidence — including older visitors, people with disabilities, and anyone in a difficult or vulnerable situation. This statement explains how we have designed the site for accessibility, where we know it still falls short, and how to get help if any part is hard to use.

1. Our commitment

Most of the people we help are aged 55 and over, and many tell us they find financial websites confusing or hard to read. We take that seriously. Clear, accessible communication is central to how we meet our obligations under the Financial Conduct Authority’s Consumer Duty — in particular that customers can understand our information and get the support they need — and to our duty to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.

2. The standard we aim for

We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA, the recognised international standard. We also follow established guidance on designing for people living with dementia and other cognitive or learning differences, because clear, calm and predictable pages help everyone.

3. How we have designed the site for accessibility

Across the website we have:

  • used plain English written for a general audience, avoiding jargon where we can and explaining it where we cannot;
  • kept navigation simple and consistent on every page, with a “skip to main content” link for people using a keyboard or screen reader;
  • used large, readable text and strong colour contrast, and made sure no information is conveyed by colour alone;
  • made the site work with your browser’s own text-size and zoom settings, so you can enlarge the page to suit you;
  • clearly labelled every link, button and form field, and given keyboard users a visible outline showing where they are on the page;
  • limited movement and animation, and honoured your device setting if you have asked it to reduce motion;
  • labelled our calculators so they can be operated by keyboard and read aloud by screen-reading software.

4. How accessible this website is

We believe most of the website now meets WCAG 2.2 level AA. We describe it as partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, but some parts do not yet, or have not yet been independently tested. We are continuing to improve it.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following and are working to address them:

•  Our callback request form is provided by a third party (Pipedrive). We are confirming that it fully meets the accessibility standard. In the meantime, you can always reach us by phone or email instead (see below).
•  Some older documents or downloads may not yet be fully accessible.
•  We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit; this statement is based on our own testing and review.

5. If you find any part of the site difficult to use

We are here to help — just ask

You never have to struggle with the website to deal with us. If any part is hard to read or use, or you would like information in another format — for example read to you over the phone, sent in large print, or talked through step by step — please get in touch and we will help. There is no charge, no pressure, and no rush.
